(St. Justin Martyr)
(Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church)
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.  When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.”  Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.”  And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.   Jn_19:25-34

Figuratively, symbolically, we are that “beloved disciple,” brothers and sisters in Christ.  We are the Church whom Jesus instituted at that very moment.  And our Mother is His Mother.  We are invited to take her into our homes!  To fall in love with her as not only the Mother of Jesus but our conduit to Him.  In Mary’s love we have access to her Son.  And she loves us with an unparalleled love, BECAUSE we love her Son.  We are His Church.  And Mary is the Mother of that Church.

Alleluia!  Alleluia!

Come Holy Spirit!
Enkindle in us the fire of your Love!
