(Feast of the Holy Innocents, Martyrs)
When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi. Then was fulfilled what had been said through Jeremiah the prophet:
“A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation; Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more.” Mt_2:13-18
Is there not a special place in our hearts beloved for all those innocents of the past and even today, who died at the hands of the ruthless, the selfish, the ignorant? Whether it’s a two year old child, an unborn fetus or an aged senior, ALL life is valuable, not only in God’s eyes, but in ours as well. Never stop praying for them beloved, that our loving God bless them with eternal life with Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Father. And pray for our consolation too!
