(Fifth Sunday of Easter, B)
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” Jn_15:1-8
You see, beloved, the “fruit bearing” is in giving the Glory to God and not to ourselves. God has given us all, the abilities to accomplish amazing things: building, creating, organizing, loving, giving, record setting, athletics, artistry, music, healing, and on and on. We were created for these things. And it’s not of our doing, but of God, that such greatness is accomplished!
So how could we give glory to ourselves without first giving Glory to God who created us to do these things. The trick is to recognize those talents within ourselves, use them, and then realize that it was God who endowed us with those talents in the first place. We are HIS hands and feet and minds and hearts. The Glory HAS to be given to Him for everything!
And when and if we mess us – well maybe, oops, we just forgot to ask His help, His guidance, His wisdom in our first attempt. But in the second and third, with Him, it will undoubtedly be a roaring success. Always remember, beloved, to give the Glory to God first and most times only!!!! Glory to God on high!!!
