As Elijah and Elisha walked on conversing, a flaming chariot and flaming horses came between them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. When Elisha saw it happen he cried out, “My father! my father! Israel’s chariots and drivers!” 2_Kgs_2:1,6-14
As Elijah passed his Prophet’s baton on to Elisha, he, like his ancestor Enoch, the great, great, great grandson of Seth, the son of Adam, went to walk with God without ever seeing mortal death. In the flaming ascension of God’s glory, Elijah rose to be with Moses and the mighty saints of old, that he might one day come to meet with Jesus and Moses on the mountain of Transfiguration. Oh the glory we have awaiting us, beloved, when we stay faithful to the Lord. Oh the Hope!
