Elijah’s Whisper – My Whisper

Bubbles2 Then the LORD said (to Elijah), “Go outside and stand on the mountain before the LORD; the LORD will be passing by.”  A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the LORD – but the LORD was not in the wind.  After the wind there was an earthquake – but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was fire – but the LORD was not in the fire. After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound.  When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak and went and stood at the entrance of the cave. A voice said to him, “Elijah, why are you here?”  1_Kings_19:11-13

Why are YOU here, beloved?

Was it to discover magnificent colors? Was it to find colorful music or awesome videos? Was it just curiosity? Was it accidental? Were you really looking for God, for Hope, for true LOVE somewhere in this menagerie we call the web?

silenceOr were you just hiding in a cave, waiting on the Lord to Whisper in your ear – a Word – LIFE! Life, it’s in You! And YOU are beautiful in the Eyes of God, no matter what the world may say or think.

You are Loved!!

Every day the Lord whispers in our ears – Words of HOPE, Words of LOVE, and maybe not even words – just His JOY in our hearts.

Let’s follow the Scriptures of our daily Mass and see if we can catch those Words – simple but beautiful – Whispers to the Wind . . .

04-30-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 30, 2024
(St. Pius V, Pope, Religious)
After a near-death stoning, Paul and Barnabas strengthened the spirits of the disciples and exhorted them to persevere in the faith, saying, “It is necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.”  Acts_14:19-28
And it’s no different today, beloved!  All good things take a little effort, a little ‘blood, sweat and tears,’ and a little patience and perseverance.  God wants nothing less than to see us all make it to heaven.  But, do we?  And if we do, how willing are we to sacrifice a little in order to attain it?

04-29-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 29, 2024
(St. Catherine of Siena, Virgin and Doctor of the Church)
Jesus said to his disciples: “Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”  Jn_14:21-26
Sorry, gang, a few days of computer downtime.  Sometimes we just have to follow those commands and get ourselves, inside and out, tuned up, cleaned out and ready for another time of praising the Lord!..  Hopefully, those computer wizards, got a good dose of Catholic Jesus from my computer.  It’s just about all it’s filled with.  Hopefully, yours is too!  Blessings and peace always!  Joe

04-23-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 23, 2024
The disciples in Jerusalem sent Barnabas to go to Antioch (in Syria). When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord in firmness of heart, for he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith. And a large number of people was added to the Lord. Then he went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he had found him he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the Church and taught a large number of people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.  Acts_11:19-26
And so began the world-wide expansion of the Church of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior of the world.  Antioch grew to become the hub for the Christian missionaries into the Gentile world, much like Jerusalem was the hub for Jewish growth in the Faith.  And it was from Antioch that St. Paul, Barnabas and St. Mark began their missionary endeavors.  All and always led by the Holy Spirit, guiding, leading and encouraging them with new miracles, healings and teachings – all in the Name of Jesus.  Not unlike, what we ourselves have the ability to accomplish through our faith, evangelization and love for God’s family: the poor, the needy, the downtrodden, the helpless!  Blessed be God for giving us such love!

04-22-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 22, 2024
So Jesus said again, “Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved,” Jn_10:1-10
ONLY through Jesus will we be saved!
He is our “Good Shepherd.”
Now and forever!

04-21-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 21, 2024
(4th Sunday of Easter, B)
Jesus said: “I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”  Jn_10:11-18
St. Peter said of Jesus, “There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.”  Acts_4:8-12
Life and Death!  And yet, we know that this is not the whole picture, not the big picture.  Jesus taught us, by His own example, that there truly is more to the big picture.  And we, believers, would instead summarize it like this instead: Life, and Death, and LIFE again!  And not just life again, as in reincarnation, only to result in death again. But ETERNAL life!  No more death after that, only LIFE for all eternity.  And not anything like the mortal life we’re living now.  Perfect Life.  Healthy Life.  Happy Life with God.  No more sadness, no more grief, no more anxiety, no more fear.  LIFE with God will be perfect.  And that’s exactly why we call it Heaven!
So, this big picture, then, can change our whole outlook on the mortal aspect of our lives as well.  IF in heaven we will no longer be here, in the flesh, in the world, then, maybe instead of concentrating on the grief and hurt and evil of our world, we should focus on every good, every struggle, every rainy day, and give thanks to God for being able to experience them all.  That’s the Joy of Life, beloved!  No fear of its end, but hope for the best that’s yet to come!

04-20-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 20, 2024
Many of the disciples of Jesus who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you? What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the Spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life.”  Jn_6:60-69
Just shocking!  Jesus’ point came across loud and clear.  They either believed or did not.  And it caused many of them to leave.  But just to emphasize the point even more, Jesus told them another Truth, that would be even more shocking to them than consuming His Body and Blood. He was to ascend into the Heavens.  He was to rise from the dead. He was to send the Holy Spirit to be with and in them forever!
Yes, sometimes words can be deceiving.  But, we can be sure that every Word spoken from the mouth of Jesus, from the mind of God, are as True as existence itself.  And even beyond.  They are Eternally True.  And that’s exactly why we Believe.  Jesus proved every last impossibility!  What HOPE we have beloved, if we just believed!

04-19-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 19, 2024
As Saul was nearing Damascus, a light from the sky suddenly flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” He said, “Who are you, sir?” The reply came, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Now get up and go into the city and you will be told what you must do.”  Acts_9:1-20Jesus said to the crowd, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.”  Jn_6:52-59
If we wanted to teach a child, a grandchild, or even a great-grandchild, something that was  truly important to their lives: How to live a happy life: How and why we should  never hurt other people; Or, how to always make the very best choices in life, even when those choices may be extremely difficult, then we would want our teaching to be radically challenging: like telling them to get out of bed on the other side, even if they thought that there was a wall there, preventing them from ever being able to do such a thing; like telling them to eat human flesh or to drink blood, when for their whole lives, they thought that such things were forbidden or disgusting; or like, maybe in today’s world, telling them to give up their cell phones. Radically Challenging!
And then, there are those times, or those people who we simply know, just won’t listen. And it might take a little, “blinding light,” a little suffering, a little internal reflection, a little pride-demolishing humility, in order for them to finally be able to truly SEE. That teaching experience for them, has to be totally life changing if we ever want them to actually learn it, and to remember it for all time to come.
In our Bible Stories, we’re struck with images like those: of Adam, Eve and an apple, of Noah and a Flood, of Moses and the Red Sea, of little David and big Goliath, of Daniel in the lion’s den, and of Jesus walking on water. And we find that everyone from the most adamant atheist to the most pious Saint has heard those stories.
And we even hear cliches about them quoted around the world: “The writing’s on the wall,” just before you lose your job; the beautiful rainbow, that was changed from a sign of God’s love into a sign of Satan’s deception; And then, there’s that Number Sign, that has suddenly become the “hashtag,” a symbol that we, of the ‘sensibility generation’ don’t even want to venture a guess as to what that means. Sorry, I’m diverging.
But the point is, that, at only 30-years old, Jesus so fully understood this principle of what I’d call ‘shock teaching,’ that His examples of eating Body and drinking Blood, and of knocking someone off their high horse, are still remembered today, 2000-years later (not that I’m saying that anything that Jesus ever said or did was not absolutely true!)
Our take-home message, beloved, even in a world where next to nothing is shocking any more, is that, IF we truly want to know: how to live a happy life, if we truly want to know how not to indulge in feelings of hatred and revenge, and if we truly would love to know how to always make the right choices even when those choices may seem like life or death to us, then, our take-home IS, as Jesus tells us, to become ONE with our Father, with Jesus, and with the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist, this very best of thanksgiving celebrations, of eating the Body and drinking the Blood of Jesus Himself. Because, in reality, it’s only God who can endow us with that kind of wisdom.
You see, it’s not only good for our living, mortal souls, but, as Jesus teaches us, it is ESSENTIAL for our Eternal lives with Him. Like the blinding, cleansing, life-changing Light of St. Paul, our Jesus truly is: our Light of Life and our Light of Love in a world with such desperate needs for both.

04-18-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 18, 2024
Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.”  Jn_6:44-51
For the life of the whole world.  Not just the few, the select.  The WHOLE world!
It’s our choice, whether we accept and eat or not!
Please pray for our world!

04-17-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 17, 2024
Jesus said, “this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day.”  Jn_6:35-40
And a little later He said to Thomas, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”  Jn_20:29
Yes, even though we have not physically seen Jesus with our eyes, we DO believe.  And in that belief, we will gain the eternal life Jesus promised and, as He said, be raised on the last day.  This is His promise and God’s new Covenant to the post-resurrection world.  BELIEVE!  And LOVE!

04-16-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 16, 2024
Jesus said to the disbelieving crowds, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”  Jn_6:30-35
Come and believe!

04-15-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 15, 2024
Jesus answered them (the crowd of followers) and said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.”  Jn_6:22-29
What perishables are we setting our hearts on beloved?  Is it our jobs, or our food, or our tvs or sports or world calamities, politics, hobbies, or even families?  Jesus is reminding us today that our primary focus should always be God first. And it is He, Jesus, who teaches us what that means.  There’s nothing wrong with understanding our need for work, for money, for food, for hobbies, for human love.
But there is only ONE love that matters most in life.  And that’s our love for God and His for us.  We don’t love Jesus because He feeds us, where food is the most important factor.  We love Jesus because He IS love and it’s love that brings us life.  Not just life in the here and now, but life for all eternity – in LOVE with God!

04-14-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 14, 2024
(3rd Sunday of Easter, B)
The resurrected Jesus said to His disciples, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. And he said to them, “Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”  Lk_24:35-48
You know, there’s something about the mysterious, the miraculous, that can truly rattle our senses,  when our minds can’t make sense of things; when they don’t fit within the little box of our understanding of the physical laws of nature: our first sensation of an earthquake, the devastating power of a tornado, the sun going dark in the middle of a cloudless day, someone walking on water, or seeing a long-dead person come back to life.
And words, words especially in a culture indoctrinated with published falsehoods and theatrical make-believe, words, just don’t always convince us enough – to overcome the fear, the doubt, or even a total nervous breakdown, over the unbelievable.
We saw the doubt of Thomas, the Apostle, last week. And this week, it’s the disbelief of the other disciples, who already heard of the resurrection of Jesus from multiple sources, and yet, they still had a hard time believing, even with Jesus, right there in front of them. It’s funny how sometimes, even seeing is not believing!
But, what if we came to know that it was all predicted, all foretold, long before it ever happened? Healing the incurable. Raising the dead. Ascending into the heavens. A suffering Messiah? Pandemics, Earthquakes, Eclipses and Meteors, Oh my!
If you never enjoyed the exercise of looking up all of the prefigured references of Jesus in the Bible, the suffering, three days of Jonah, Elijah, Isaiah, and the other prophets, all leading to an eternity of new life for them; the saving Arks of Noah, and Moses, and Mary; with Jesus as the Ark of OUR own salvation.
If you never experienced the exercise of discovering God’s wondrous Plan of our salvation in the Scriptures: His feeding of Adam and Eve with a critter-free garden; the feeding of Moses and the Israelites with Manna from heaven; David, fed with the untouchable, holy showbread from the Temple; the multitudes fed with an over- abundance of fish and bread from little more than nothing; the feeding of Jesus with the Will of His Father; and of us, brothers and sisters, with this most precious, and blessed, Body and Blood of Jesus …
If you’ve never had the joy-filled revelation of these discoveries, then I won’t spoil the end of the story for you. It’s just something that you’ve got to discover on your own. Something that can wonderfully, and miraculously and mysteriously change your entire life, forever! You see, anything truly worth discovering, always takes a little effort – to be believed.
And in the end, not only do we find an incredible promise of hope for ourselves, but we discover a roadmap for making these day-to-day lives of ours – absolutely blessed.
Our God loves us so unconditionally much, that He was willing to become an ANT, in order to save us ants from ourselves, from our silly fears, and doubts, and despair.
And not only did He become that ant, but He lived the hunger, and the rejection. He lived the pain of seeing his fellow ants so unnecessarily suffer, when there was nourishment, and healing, and relief, just waiting for us.
And then, He suffered, Himself, like an ant under the bottom of a shoe, worn by the very ants He was trying to save, by His love for us.
And just as the Scriptures prophesied His resurrection: with the revival of Jonah, with the raising of the dead by Elijah and Elisha, and with His own raising of a young man from Nain, the daughter of Jairus, and Lazarus, Jesus proved the reality of the resurrection for all of us, with His own!
Today, Jesus is calling us, to Believe! To cleanse our hearts of sin, and repent. And to know, that, not only is He here with us – in Word, and in the Blessed Sacrament of His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity that nourishes us, but, He is right here in every one of our hearts.
As Jesus told His disciples today, ‘Fear Not,’ for we are being prepared in the crucible of mortality, to be absolutely and totally amazed, with a future of eternal immortality in the resurrection of His believers!

04-13-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 13, 2024
(St. Martin I, Pope and Martyr)
When the disciples had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they began to be afraid. But he said to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”  Jn_6:16-21
Sometimes, beloved, fear of the unknown can paralyze us.  We lose our sense of time, of rationality, of sensibility.  We say things we would never otherwise say and do things we would never otherwise do.  So Jesus, whenever He sees His disciples arrive at that state, tells them “Do not be afraid!”  And we see the same statement whenever there are angels in the Bible making statements and announcements to God’s beloved.  Great fear is calmed with the statement, “Do not be afraid.”  Are  you ever afraid, beloved?  Afraid of embarrassment?  Afraid of being lost?  Afraid of DEATH?  Remember, then, that statement of Jesus – “Do not be afraid!”  It’s Jesus, and He’s got us covered!
A very happy and blessed birthday prayer to my sis, Carol!
God love you always!

04-12-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 12, 2024
When the people saw the sign he (Jesus) had done, they said, “This is truly the Prophet, the one who is to come into the world.” Since Jesus knew that they were going to come and carry him off to make him king, he withdrew again to the mountain alone.  Jn_6:1-15
So, what do we do with notoriety, beloved, with fame, when it comes our way?  Do we revel in it?  Do we allow the wave to overcome us until we become bloated with pride and greed and fat?!  OR, do we, like Jesus, go off in hiding to prevent it?
Maybe it’s just not a burden that we need to overwhelm ourselves with.  Maybe poverty, simplicity, anonymity and humility are much more rewarding, much more like, what God wants of us.  When we let Him be the famous, the well known, the wealthy, we’ll find that we can become just as wealthy in our hearts, knowing that He’s got all the complications covered.  And we just don’t need to become what He already is!  We just need to believe, to trust, to rely on Him, and Him alone!

04-11-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 11, 2024
(St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr)
Jesus said, Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.”  Jn_3:31-36
If we can believe in atoms, if we can believe in the universe, if we can believe in black holes, in radiation, in the speed of light, then how much more life-giving is our belief in God, who has proven His existence in Jesus.  Through our belief in Him, we have eternal life.  And THAT life is Glorious!

04-10-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 10, 2024
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.  Jn_3:16-21
Seems we condemn ourselves.  We don’t need anyone else to do it for us.  Within our own hearts we know when, what we do is not the Truth of God.  And God knows it, as well.  So seek not the kingdom of darkness, beloved, but ALWAYS seek the light and the truth of Jesus.  This will keep us alive, and healthy, and holy in the eyes of God.  And THAT’s where we want to be!

04-09-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 9, 2024
Jesus said to Nicodemus: “‘You must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”  Jn_3:7b-15
They can hear the sound that we make – the sound of love, the sound of compassion, the sound of giving, but not the sounds of pride and fame and greed and obnoxiousness.  They can hear the sound of humility, if they hear or listen at all.  And they don’t know where we’ve come from.  And they will never understand where we’re going . . . but we know!  We’ve been born of the Spirit of Jesus.  And in that Spirit we live.  We go where he/she leads us, without question, but with trust.  And, thus it is that we live in Christ.  And it’s there that we live and breathe and have our being, for all eternity!  Amen!

04-08-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 8, 2024
(The Annunciation of the Lord)
Listen, O house of David! Is it not enough for you to weary people, must you also weary my God? Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us!”  Is_7:10-14;8:10
The Angel Gabriel said to Mary, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”  Lk_1:26-38
The Sign, the Message, the Acceptance, the new Ark of the new Covenant.  A covenant of salvation.  A covenant of hope.  A covenant of redemption.  A covenant of eternal life at the price of excruciating suffering.  All because of LOVE.  God’s love for You and for me, beloved.  A love beyond imagination! Thank you Mary!  Thank you Jesus!  Thank you our loving Creator!

04-07-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 7, 2024
(Divine Mercy Sunday, 2nd Sunday of Easter, B)
For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. Who indeed is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?  1_Jn_5:1-6
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.  Jn_20:19-31
OK, now, if you had a friend, a close friend, whom you thought had died, and then discovered, didn’t really die, or, OR, came back to life and showed you his bloody hands and side, would you REJOICE?  Sure, they’re not dead, and that’s something to really be happy about, but wouldn’t your first response, instead be, “Sit down, let me get some bandages for you, how can I help you!”
I think the situation was so far beyond anything we could even remotely imagine, that all the ‘yeah-buts’ and all the ‘what-if’s’ were moot!  Jesus, inside fully physical, had just entered the room so fully spiritual, that not even locked doors could keep Him out.  That in itself, was unimaginable!  So He most likely had no need for bandages, nor ointment.  And it was really, they themselves who had the greater need for sitting down and catching their breaths.  You see, it was purely by God’s unimaginable mercy that they were even able to speak.  (Remember Peter’s silly response to the Transfiguration).
God, in His perfectly unimaginable Divine Mercy, will see to it that we are perfectly, and mercifully attended to – in forgiveness, in salvation, in hope and in amazement at where and how we will be, through our faith, our belief, in Him, in Jesus, our divine physician!

04-06-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 6, 2024
When Jesus had risen, early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. She went and told his companions who were mourning and weeping. When they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.  Mk_16:9-15
_____
Observing the boldness of Peter and John and perceiving them to be uneducated, ordinary men, the leaders, elders, and scribes were amazed, and they recognized them as the companions of Jesus. Then when they saw the man who had been cured standing there with them, they could say nothing in reply. So they ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin, and conferred with one another, saying, “What are we to do with these men?  Acts_4:13-21
Quite a switch from unbelieving to risking imprisonment and death on the part of the disciples.  After three-years with Jesus and all He had told them, they still didn’t believe, even after someone else had eyewitness confirmation that He was alive again.  We need to remember this when we hear about the doubt of Thomas tomorrow, before we brand him with the mark of “doubter.”  For they all doubted, just as we still do at times.  And when we finally do fully believe, or even just get excited after a retreat or prayer group, and tell others who refuse to believe, then we can also remember the frustration of Mary Magdalene when no one believes us either.
It’s then, that we need to stand firm, not doubt ourselves, and trust wholly in our Lord.  The Holy Spirit will give us that strength, just is he did for the Apostles, who became bold enough to (actually) die for their faith – so that they could truly live forever with Him!
Blessed be God forever!

04-05-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 5, 2024
The Resurrected Jesus said to His disciples, “Come, have breakfast.” And none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because they realized it was the Lord. Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them, and in like manner the fish. This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples after being raised from the dead.  Jn_21:1-14
What a massive mix of emotions, the disciples must have had . . .
The strange Passover dinner,
– the betrayal by their brother, Judas, – the trials, the mob, the suffering of Jesus, that horrible crucifixion, the fear, the wasted three-years, And it all left them with the question of what was to happen to them, now that it was all over? And then, after all that, after all that, then, He shows up again. Was it all just a wild dream?
Was it all – some crazy nightmare with a glorious, hope-filled ending.
Twice now, they had seen, or thought they had seen – the Lord.
And now, having given up again, Peter decides to go and do something productive . . .
“I am going fishing!  At least that’s something I know how to do.”
Ever have those moments when we think we can just – do it all on our own?  . . .
When we think – that we actually have control over our lives. Whether it’s for the pride of the accomplishment, for the glory of a job well done, or even for the power, like the Pharisees, who thought that absolutely nothing was out of their control, . . . But it just never seems to work.
WE are not the cornerstones of our own lives.  Only God is!  . . . Because usually those prideful undertakings simply fail, just as they did for Peter and his companion fishermen that night.
And then, there’s the Lord.
And then, we remember,
– and then we trust,
– and then we rely on Him, on Him alone.
And we learn – that only WITH God’s help can we truly accomplish anything.
Peter found, not only an ability to comfort, and to heal, and to lead others to Jesus, but, he found the courage, and the strength to endure:
– even the worst of persecutions
– even death,
– for the sake of his beloved Jesus,
– for the Glory of God, his and our Father,
– and with those wonderful gifts, that he and we all receive from the Holy Spirit.
It’s Easter, brothers and sisters, and Jesus reminds us, once again, WHO is truly in control.
And thanks be to God, it’s not us!
Alleluia, Alleluia

April 4, 2024
(St. Isadore of Seville, Bishop and Doctor of the Church)
The disciples of Jesus recounted what had taken place along the way, and how they had come to recognize him in the breaking of bread.  Lk_24:35-48
. . . just as we do at every Mass we attend!

04-03-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 3, 2024
(Wednesday of Easter Octave)
Jesus responded to the disbelief of the disciples who were on the road to Emmaus, saying, “Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the Scriptures.  Lk_24:13-35“
Look, there I am in Jonah, and there, in Isaiah, and there in Micah, and there in Moses.  Look, in Elijah and Elisha, in Daniel and Tobit.”  “How can you not see?”  And they were perplexed with this stranger in their company.  But it wasn’t until they recognized Him in the ‘breaking of the bread’ that they finally understood.  They HAVE been saved!  And there’s nothing more to wait for, at least in this mortality.  Now it’s their turn, it’s our turn, beloved, to do the serving until He returns to gather us all into His kingdom forever!  BELIEVE, and love with all your heart!

(Tuesday of the Easter Octave)
(St. Francis of Paola, Hermit)
When the people heard what Peter had professed, they asked Peter and the other Apostles, “What are we to do, my brothers?” Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call.”  Acts_2:36-41

04-01-24 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 1, 2024
(Monday of Easter Octave)
Peter bravely stood before the crowd and proclaimed: “You who are children of Israel, hear these words. Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by God with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know. This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God, you killed, using lawless men to crucify him. But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by it.”  Acts_2:14,22-33

Filled with the Holy Spirit, there was nothing that could stop Peter’s excitement!
