(Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God)
“The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.” Lk 2:16-21
Mother, step-father, and the Son of God – God the Son!
Blessed be the womb that bore the Son of God. Not easy would be her path. To see the Son she bore, the Son she nurtured and taught and raised – be mocked and tortured and murdered. But behind it all there is the Truth. The truth the world was so blind to see. The Truth that our very salvation derives from this little infant, the boy who would in turn teach and nurture and raise us from the soil of sin to the Glory of His Kingdom.
Blessed be the Mother of God, Mary most Holy!
And a very happy New Year to you, beloved!
In the words of Moses,
May the LORD bless you and keep you!
And may the LORD let his face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you!
May the LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!
