(33rd Sunday Ordinary Time B)
In those days, I Daniel, heard this word of the Lord: . . . “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace. “But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever.” Dn_12:1-3
A message of hope, or a message of doom? Depends on where you stand. Yes, we’ve all made mistakes, but that doesn’t gain us “everlasting horror,” beloved, unless it really wasn’t a mistake at all, but a blatant offense against God with no remorse. Wisdom helps us to recognize our errors in judgment and repent. And it’s the wise who shall “shine like the stars forever.” Listen to her (wisdom’s) voice, beloved, and live! And may our loving God bless you in Wisdom’s light forever!
