Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.” Mt_7:6,12-14
When it becomes black and white to us, beloved, which philosophies, which attitudes, which beliefs belong upon this constricted road and which do not, then, I think we’re on the right path. Throughout the Old Testament, God and the prophets openly delineated which behaviors opened that narrow gate and which did not. And then Jesus made it even simpler to understand by telling us that it all had to do with love of God and neighbor.
If we look at the world we live in, beloved, and put that proviso on every comment we hear from the media, on every event we hear about, that has not been biased by a biased media, how many can we find that fall on the narrow path of love?
And then, what about our own actions?
Are we walking the path and opening gates for ourselves and others?
Or are we just following the crowd on the wide and abundant path to perdition?
