(St. Bernardine of Siena, Priest)
St. Paul said, “The God who made the world and all that is in it, the Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands, nor is he served by human hands because he needs anything. Rather it is he who gives to everyone life and breath and everything.”
“He made from one the whole human race to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he fixed the ordered seasons and the boundaries of their regions, so that people might seek God, even perhaps grope for him and find him, though indeed he is not far from any one of us. For ‘In him we live and move and have our being,’” Acts_17:15,22-18:1
. . . And without Him we would not be! If we could only – all understand that. If we could all recognize our deep dependence on God. If we could rely on Him, on Jesus, through the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, then life would be so very much more magnificent. For it already is! We just don’t all see it!
St. Bernardine wrote:
Jesus, Name full of glory, grace, love and strength!
You are the refuge of those who repent,
our banner of warfare in this life,
the medicine of souls,
the comfort of those who morn,
the delight of those who believe,
the light of those who preach the true faith,
the wages of those who toil,
the healing of the sick.
To you our devotion aspires;
by you our prayers are received;
we delight in contemplating you.
O Name of Jesus,
you are the glory of all the saints for eternity.
Amen.
