Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus, “Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” Mt_9:35–10:1-8
“Freely received, freely given.” It’s a good motto to remember. And yet, beloved, there are those things in this life that come at great cost. And those are the ones that are so hard to give up, so hard to relinquish. But God reminds us that even when things come at great cost to us (a job, a project, a child, a home), we are still to remember that they ALL originate from God as well. And in our thanksgiving to Him, we are to always to remember that they can be gone in the blink of an eye as well. Our very being is here on loan from God. We just have to make sure that we make the very best of it that we can, in the uncertain time we have with it all.
Blessed be God forever!
