01-30-21 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

January 30, 2021
In the midst of a storm, in a little boat, in the middle of the sea, with His disciples panicking in fear, Jesus rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm.  Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?”  Mk_4:35-41

The writer of the Letter to the Hebrews tells us, Brothers and sisters: Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.  Heb_11:1-2,8-19

Beloved, the Scriptures are telling us today not to place our hope, our faith in the things of the world.  Sure, we are called to support human dignity, to help those in need and to make sure our laws support life and do not destroy it.  But these are all temporal, worldly things.  Our hope is not of this world, but of the next.  For you see, terror and fear lead to death, but hope and love lead to life, life eternal.  This, Jesus came to bring to us!  Now all we need do is have Faith.  He will do what He promised.  Of this we can be sure!
