09-18-22 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(25th Sunday Ordinary Time, C)
Jesus said, “If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours? No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon.”  Lk_16:1-13

When you think about life from the point of view of it all being God’s creation, then our very bodies, the food we eat, the jobs we have, the earth we live on, all belong to God.  So then, we might ask, are we truly trustworthy of what belongs to God?  What aspect of ourselves, our environment, our job, our family, our finances, may we not be quite as trustworthy with as we should be in the eyes of God?  And maybe, as Jesus tells us, we should be loving God above all those objects of His ownership, instead of loving them in themselves.  For in themselves they have no true power to make us happy.  But in loving God, all else will take care of itself.  All it takes then, is our trustworthy handling of them!  Blessed be God forever!
