11-11-22 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(St. Martin of Tours, Bishop)
St. John wrote, let us love one another. For this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, in which you should walk.  2_Jn_1:4-9

Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man; they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”  Lk_17:26-37

So beware, beloved.  Beware that we don’t forget the most important thing in all of life, our Love of God!  Beware that we don’t allow our love to fall primarily on material objects, or on sports heroes, or pets, or the beauty of God’s creation, or even our spouses or children, and not PRIMARILY on God;  and then secondarily on God’s children (our closest of relationships) and our neighbor; and then down to “likes” of the materials of this world, always remembering that everything we possess and see belongs to God.  And we are never to allow our attachment to them – to hurt any relationship between ourselves and others.  Jesus said, (paraphrased) ‘If they ask for your coat, give them the shirt off your back as well!’ (Even if it’s your favorite, or the only shirt you own!)  God will provide for you, more than enough to survive, when you willingly give, in love, to others.  And that love is always because of, and in respect of, your FIRST love, of God.

Even though we may sense a little bit of heaven here in our temporal existence, as we spoke of yesterday,  God really DOES have something even more Glorious in store for us who persevere in love of Him and our neighbor, with the expectation that it may be our very next breath (or not) which leads us back home with Him forever!
