During the time of the exile of Israel to Babylon, the King of Babylon was being very disrespectful of God by partying with the Sacred Vessels taken from the Temple in Jerusalem. He was a fearless man, except when the event that was about
to happen shook him to his very bones.
“Suddenly, opposite the lampstand, the fingers of a human hand appeared,
writing on the plaster of the wall in the king’s palace.” Dn 5:1-28
King Belshazzar had seen the “writing on the wall.”
The Whisper was in the wind.
And it was not good!
Today we use that cliche all the time: “I saw the writing on the wall,”
when our company is about to fold, when our job is about to be taken away,
when the state of the world is not very good.
Well, beloved, it’s almost Advent.
And the writing on the wall says,
“BE PREPARED.”
If the end of time was truly about to come, would we be ready?
Are we the JOYFUL evangelists that Pope Francis is advocating we should be?
Are we the HOPE-filled Catholic disciples that Jesus
and the Holy Spirit inspired?
You bet!
So . . .
REJOICE
for we ARE Loved!
