11-25-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

November 25, 2014
Jesus said, “When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.”  Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.”   Lk 21:5-11

As we near the end of the Church’s liturgical year, our readings are coming from the Book of Revelation and Jesus’ prophesies of His second coming.  Funny, as we check off His list of calamities, we’ve got the wars, the earthquakes, the famines and the plagues.  But, you know what, beloved, we’ve had them ever since His time and long before that too.  And that doesn’t mean that a final end will never come.  But it does mean that, as Jesus said, we are not to allow ourselves to become all paranoid and terrified by these signs.  IF we are in God’s good graces, yes, death will still come, and it will undoubtedly be frightening, but WE KNOW that it will only lead to a LIFE so incredibly, so indescribably better, that the temporary (inconvenience) of death will be but a blink of the eye – before our awakening!

So, have hope, beloved and know that we ARE in His loving hands!
