01-13-15 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

January 13, 2015
(St. Hilary, Bishop)
Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit within a man and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him.  All were amazed and asked one another, “What is this?  A new teaching with authority.
Mk 1:21-28

Today we hear about the supreme authority of Jesus to subject all things under himself, in both the physical and spiritual realms.  And yet, Jesus did not use that authority to break even “a bent reed.”  It was always the free will choice of each person to decide whether or not they would have the faith to believe.  And we have the same choice today, beloved.  Will we allow Jesus to have authority over our souls?  If we do, we too might just be AMAZED at what can be accomplished!
