Jesus said to the crowd, “Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.” Lk_12:13-21
So the true secret to life, to eternal life, is in giving. It’s not in acquiring and building and storing and hoarding, but in giving until there is nothing left. And the greatest thing God wants us to give is His love in us to others. Whether that love is given in monetary gifts, in helping hands, in prayer or even in a kind smile to a stranger, we just need to make sure it never stops or turns into gifts only to ourselves. As Jesus said, “guard against all greed.” It’s not in the taking but in the giving that we’ll find true life!
