11-08-22 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(Bl. John Duns Scotus, Priest, OFM)
Jesus said to his disciples, “When you have done all you have been commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.’”  Lk_17:7-10

In the end, beloved, what have we done that has not already been done before?  What have we said that has not been said before?  What have we suffered that has not been suffered by thousands or millions?  We do what we are called to do.  Whether that calling is to invent, or to preach or to suffer.  We are all unprofitable servants of our Lord and Master.  And so, in the end, if we can just DO what we are called to do, it’s not the time to boast of our accomplishments.  Rather it is the time to continue on this journey in the next phase, in our new beginning: to love and to serve our God and one another with all our hearts!
