(Dedication of the Lateran Basilica)
The Prophet Ezekiel said, “The angel brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing out from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east, . . .
He said to me, . . . Wherever the river flows, every sort of living creature that can multiply shall live, and there shall be abundant fish, for wherever this water comes the sea shall be made fresh. Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of every kind shall grow; their leaves shall not fade, nor their fruit fail. Every month they shall bear fresh fruit, for they shall be watered by the flow from the sanctuary. Their fruit shall serve for food, and their leaves for medicine.” Ez_47:1-2,8-9,12
Ever encounter someone, beloved, who truly represented the fruit and the leaves from the tree of life that Ezekiel describes so eloquently in this passage? Their words were nourishing and healing. And maybe not even just their words, but the love, the charity, the compassion they could offer us, instead of the world’s judgment and criticism.
It’s what our souls so greatly desire! It’s God flowing into our souls, into our lives, and then flowing right back out to nourish and heal others. Are you feeling down, depressed, or just not happy with life, beloved? Is the world, the news, the television programs and even the music more of a burden than an elevator. Well, maybe you just need a little lift! You see, we are all children of the Almighty. And as such, His love for us is boundless! That means, even when we mess up, and we all do, God is right there loving us anyway. And even when we struggle to find meaning or hope, God is there flowing into our thoughts and our dreams. And when we can’t find even a spark of light in the darkness, our loving God is directing our path to His light, light that’s right there in our hearts.
Trust in Him, beloved! Hope in Him. And follow Jesus, our Lamb who leads us to God’s pasture. And there we become found again! Feed on His love. Heal in His hope. And live in the Light of Jesus, always!
May God bless you and keep you always in His love!
For you are fearfully and wonderfully made! (Ps 139)
